Escape to the Coast

Winter was coming and the holiday season was around the corner. I knew that after the New Year I was going to need something to refresh my perspective on my creativity. I was talking to a friend and she mentioned going to Cannon Beach, Oregon for a meet-up with other creatives. I immediately went online to book my flight and Air B&B.

Let me tell ya the Escape to the Coast meet up was pretty amazing. . The Pacific Northwest has a magical, mysterious energy. It takes some getting used to looking thru the thick of the trees but around every bend there was something special to see.

Even more special were the people I met and the newfound friendships fostered. Before I went on this trip I was having a motherhood crisis. My youngest goes into Kinder next year and I struggled with losing my little muse. I’m always so used to having a child connected to my hip, I was afraid of losing that crutch of having company and not being alone. It was an interesting time and this escape was just what I needed to reset. I learned that there is so much growth to be had from this for both my daughter and I. This was a time for her to learn how to foster friendships, learn her alphabet and explore the world without me next to her. And the same goes for me. To learn how to face the world and explore what I am capable of without a child connected to my hip. This was going to be a time for both of us to blossom. Anyhow this trip showed me a lot of what I have to look forward to .

I’m STOKED as shit to share them here with you.

Dear Photographer "The Best Images of 2018"

This is such a BIG HONOR for to me to be selected for this feature AND AND with SO MANY incredible women!!! HOLY SHIT BATWOMAN! Hey, I try not to take photography too seriously as it started as a creative outlet for me but as I have evolved on my journey through the years I have become much more comfortable in my “creative skin" I get super stoked on achievements like this. I carry so much gratitude for the kind ladies over at Dear Photographer. It truly is an inspiring group to be apart of. THANK YOU Adri & Janel!! XO

I have been waiting to meet Sue of Roots to Willow Photography! I met her thru Unraveled Academy so I was excited to finally meet my internet buddy in person. She hosted a really amazing creative photography workshop for other San Diego members of Unraveled and let me tell ya..to say this was nothing short of amazing would be an understatement.

So I loaded up the car and took the 45 minute drive up to the location Sue text to me. I pulled up to this empty dirt lot and across the street you could see this amazing windmill and just off in the center was an old schoolhouse. The whole ambience was the perfect setting to get the creative juices going. The old dusty antique school desks, the dated wallpaper falling apart off the walls. Little skeletons of rodents.. I mean creepy eerie sh*t but I loved every minute of it!!  I got to see Sue work her magic, hang out with Coleen Hodges, Founder of Unraveled ,  and make some new friends. Super rad day! I look forward to these again! I have really loved hanging out with more photographers this year. These relationships are impactful to me on my journey in photography. Here is the series I took from that day. Some really inspiring sh*t.  XO
